Nine years before I underwent hip surgery (replacement), Dr. Kane said that such a procedure was necessary. His words in layman’s language were: “Your hip is worn out, not unlike a car tire, and it will only get worse”. Of course, he was correct although I wished to prove him wrong. I am and was impressed with Dr. Kane because I found his manner to be professional, knowledgeable and kind. He never pressured me but let things develop knowing that when I was ready, I would return for the replacement. A good question I ask myself is why I waited so long.

The procedure was quick with a hospital stay of less than twenty four hours. In the end, little else counts but a successful result. To put it frankly, I feel blessed that I am able to use my hip in a manner that gives me full use of it. I feel very fortunate that Dr. Kane was the surgeon, something that I think about most often. My only regret is that I still cannot run the four-minute mile.“– Jeffrey L.

Having my total knee replacement done in an outpatient surgery center setting versus a hospital was the best decision I’ve ever made. The attention and care I received was outstanding. I was able to go home after 24 hours and recover in the privacy of my own home. Everything was provided for me and my recovery was amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better surgeon. I am grateful to Dr. Kane for giving my life back to me! I am forever indebted.”–Olivia P.

Testimonial from Billifer
“Fantastic surgeon! A 15-year-old injury in my knee was finally causing me enough grief and pain that I HAD to fix it, and my doctor sent me first to one of the best orthopedic surgeons in San Diego. He and his staff were very inconsiderate and I KNEW that I did not want him operating on my knee. So when I went back to my doctor for another referral, she sent me to Dr. Kane, who used to be on staff with the San Diego Chargers. I got an appointment for the next day, and when I went to his office, the staff was friendly. Dr. Kane saw me on time (unlike the 3-hour wait I had at the first surgeon’s office!), looked at my MRI films, and discussed surgery with me. At that point I was on heavy narcotics and a cane, so I was all for surgery. I scheduled it for the next morning. Dr. Kane met with me that morning, just before the surgery, to discuss any last-minute questions I had. He also met with me and my friend who drove me home after the surgery, assuring me that I would need no more than one painkiller and that I would be walking again normally in three days, more or less. Everything he said was right on the money, and when I met with him a week later, he was impressed with my progress. I didn’t even go through physical therapy after my surgery, and I still had a dramatic recovery, coming off crutches and off the cane within 4 days. I couldn’t possibly recommend an orthopedic surgeon any more strongly than Dr. Kane. I will caution you, though, that his office is part of the Scripps complex in La Jolla and parking is insane; be prepared to spend a very, very long time finding parking.“–Billifer
